Nature lovers will be in awe of the area's natural beauty. The Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast presents awe-inspiring cliffs, secluded coves, and a rich variety of wildlife. Following the coast south, Hornsea is another of East Yorkshire’s beautiful coastal towns. Home to sandy beaches, flat promenades, amusements and traditional seaside fish and chips, Hornsea also has the largest freshwater lake in Yorkshire to admire, Hornsea Mere.

Visit Hornsea Museum for a step back into Victorian times. Enjoy family fun at Honeysuckle Farm or make time to do a spot of shopping at Hornsea Freeport.

The family-friendly resort of Withernsea hosts a variety of annual carnival and summer events in Valley Gardens, the perfect public garden picnic spot. The mile-long promenades run alongside the Blue Flag beach, and no trip to Withernsea is complete without climbing the 144 steps to the top of Withernsea Lighthouse and museum, which is a rare inland lighthouse with breathtaking views of the Holderness.

For a truly unique and memorable experience, climb aboard the Unimog at Spurn Nature Reserve to discover the last of East Yorkshire's coastal beaches. Known for its rich wildlife and heritage, visitors can make their way across the three and a half-mile peninsular to the newly restored Spurn Lighthouse.

Beverley

Beautiful Beverley is a thriving traditional market town with the perfect mix of independently owned boutiques and high street stores, while its popular market takes place every Saturday. Don't miss the stunning Minster, arguably one of Europe’s best Gothic buildings before heading across to the opposite end of town where you’ll find St Mary’s Church. If you look closely, you’ll see the white rabbit that inspired the character in Alice in Wonderland.

While the original gate to Beverley - the old North Bar - still exists, the real gateway to the market town is the vast grassy expanse of the Westwood pasture. From town, meander through the quaint shopping streets out towards the sprawling grass and woodland where there’s always space to play. Home to a racecourse, golf course, and its resident grazing cows, it’s the perfect place for a dog walk, picnic, or to fly a kite.

Easily explored on foot, the town has the perfect mix of independently owned boutiques and high street stores, while its popular Saturday market takes place each week. Flemingate brings fashion, food, and film close to East Yorkshire’s historic heart, offering an independent cinema and a mix of high street names, independent shops, and boutiques alongside local creative talent. A great place for cafe culture and entertainment for the whole family. Explore the outdoor play park, get sweaty at Jump Inc or cool off with ice cream.

The Yorkshire Wolds

If you are searching for peace and tranquillity, an active break, or would love a family day out with a difference, the Yorkshire Wolds is the perfect place to escape to the country.

Known to many as being the inspiration to internationally acclaimed artist David Hockney, along with features from filmmakers, photographers, and other artists, the outstanding beauty of the Yorkshire Wolds is there to be enjoyed by all. With endless options, you may choose to explore on foot, by car, or if you are feeling adventurous enough, horseback.

Recently celebrating its 40th year, The Yorkshire Wolds National Trail is a 79-mile trail, guiding visitors through the Yorkshire Wolds from Hessle to Filey. For those who thrive in the outdoors, unearth the picturesque villages, lively market towns, and draw on the colorful landscapes and big skies that inspire Hockney.

From cozy tea rooms, traditional country inns to the Michelin-starred restaurant, the Pipe and Glass, these hidden culinary gems are set to suit all. Many of the eateries within the Wolds are supplied by local producers from the region, serving fresh seasonal produce all year round.

Choose from a variety of accommodation options for your next hideaway, from luxury B&Bs, boutique hotels, contemporary cottages, or camping and glamping; this stunning rural location will be a home from home.
